ENA Meeting Notes - November 11th 2024

Ellendale Neighborhood Association Meeting Minutes 

Date:11/11/2024 Time: 7 p.m. 

Location: Abbott EMS 2500 Magnolia 


1. Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Jacqi Kamp, President of the Ellendale Neighborhood Association (ENA).


2. Roll Call Absent:

●      Brett Naryan, Alderman, due to family matters

●      NIS Brian Kolde

●      Officer Jon Amesquita


3. Approval of Previous Meeting MinutesPresident Kamp noted that the meeting minutes from the previous month were not available for review. She assured attendees that the minutes would be shared as soon as possible for public review and approval.


4. Announcements and Updates

●      Meeting Transparency: This meeting is being live-streamed on Facebook to ensure accessibility and transparency for all members of the Ellendale community.


5. Reports

●      Police Report: Officer Jon Amesquita reported that crime statistics remain consistent with the last report. Attendees with questions or concerns can contact him directly.

●      Neighborhood Improvement Specialist (NIS) Report:

○      Brian Kolde, unable to attend, sent a detailed update:

■      7100 Block of Emile Street: Cave-in still requires repair.

■      7100 Block of Canterbury: Potholes have been repaired.

■      2700 Block of Hermitage: One house has been condemned, and another property failed occupancy inspection.

■      6900 Block of Magnolia Railroad Crossing: Efforts are ongoing to remove debris.


6. Financial ReportTreasurer Joe Nea was unavailable, and the bank balance was not provided.


7. Committee UpdatesHousing-  John Yarish update on QT. We shared the data from the last board meeting with QT. QT will be hosting an open house in the future for all questions. Details to come. Various commentary from neighbors on opinions on QT. Traffic Data Concerns QT: Attendees raised concerns about traffic patterns and data collection during certain times of the day.

Beautification- - Kimberly Hanvy, update on last meeting. More volunteers are needed. HoneySuckle clean up Slay Park. Still grants available for rainscaping from MSD. Beautification Committee:

○      Only one volunteer attended the most recent meeting, underscoring the urgent need for more members to sustain the committee's efforts.

The committee emphasized the importance of community participation to maintain ongoing beautification projects.


8. Old Business No items were reviewed due to the unavailability of the previous month’s meeting minutes.


9. New Business

●      Park Maintenance:

○      Maria Gray raised concerns about trash cans at Francis Slay Park and pointed out issues with waste management during events.

●      Loitering Definition: Discussion on the definition of loitering was brought up, with Maria Gray expressing concerns about its implications in the community.


11. Adjournment The meeting was adjourned at 7:36 p.m.


Next Meeting: The next ENA meeting is scheduled for January 13th at 7p.m.
