Recycle Christmas Trees and Other Stuff

Soon the holidays will have past, and your Christmas tree will be looking sad. Don't throw it away, recycle it the right way!
City residents can take bare Christmas trees to one of three City parks to be recycled for free from Monday, December 26, 2016 through Friday, January 13, 2017.
Drop-off locations include:
Forest Park — Lower Muny Opera parking lot
O'Fallon Park — West Florissant and Holly, picnic grounds #4
Carondelet Park — Grand and Holly Hills, area between gate and recycling containers.
NOTE:
No ornaments, tinsel, lights, or tree stands please
Do not put trees in any alley dumpsters
Natural wreaths and pine roping are not accepted at the drop-off locations, but can go in your green yard waste bin
Additional Notes About Recycling Holiday “Stuff”
As we celebrate over the holidays and receive gifts of the newest and latest styles and gadgets, don't just toss out your old stuff. There are a number of charities and organizations in the St. Louis area that accept many items as donations.
Before you toss your old goods into the trash — if they are in good reusable condition — consider donating them. For a list of some of the organizations that pick up donations check out St. Louis City Recycles latest blog post!
Brightside St. Louis
Brightside St. Louis, originally named Operation Brightside, was founded in 1982 by Mayor Schoemehl and campaign chairman G. Duncan Bauman (the then publisher of the St. Louis Globe Democrat). Read more about Brightside St. Louis here: www.brightsidestl.org
Project Blitz is Brightside St. Louis' campaign to clean up city neighborhoods. Projects can be scheduled year-round, allowing groups to select a clean-up date and location that is convenient for them. Organize a clean-up project for your area and work with Brightside St. Louis to secure the tools you’ll need. Here is some helpful advice from the City about the responsibilities of a clean-up organizer. (Note: though the City’s information refers to the responsibilities of Block Captains, any resident can organize a clean-up.)
