Introducing SLACO’s Sustainable Neighborhood Academy

The Sustainable Neighborhood Academy offers four issue-based sessions designed to educate and challenge participants to rethink the neighborhood of the future. No special skills or education is needed to participate.
Sessions are conducted by SLACO staff, planning professionals, and local change makers. Each session is offered at a location on either the north side or south side of the City. You can attend one or all of four sessions.
SESSION 1:
Neighborhoods of the Future: Rethinking the Challenge
North Side — April 23, 9:00 a.m. to Noon
South Side — April 30, 9:00 a.m. to Noon
SESSION 2:
Can What We Know Make a Difference
North Side — April 28, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
South Side — May 4, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
SESSION 3:
Retooling Neighborhood Building Blocks
North Side — May 7, 9:00 a.m. to Noon
South Side — May 10, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
SESSION 4:
Lessons from Change Makers
North Side — May 12, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
South Side — May 14, 9:00 a.m. to Noon

Registration is free and open to the public.
Participants attending all four sessions will receive a Certificate of Completion and be eligible to register for SLACO’s Inspiration Lab — an advanced workshop for creating a plan of action for a sustainable neighborhood project. The workshop will cover topics such as developing an action plan, identifying local assets, organization and leadership, promotion and social media, and fundraising. Inspiration Lab workshops will be scheduled in June and July 2016. SLACO will have more information coming soon for workshop topics and schedule.
