Additional Information

What is a Neighborhood Impact Statement?

In short, a Neighborhood Impact Statement is a formal letter written to the Court to thoughtfully explain how crime (specific to a criminal case) has affected your neighborhood or community, your business, property values, and/or the community’s residents and their children. The Circuit Attorney’s Office can use these formal statements from residents and businesses to help the Court understand a particular case.

The statements are used at both bond hearings and sentencing to help the Court realize the real-life ripple effect of crime.

Why is this training session important?

In order to submit a Neighborhood Impact Statement, you must be trained by a staff member of the Circuit Attorney's Office. You can contact the Community Affairs Bureau by calling 314-622-4941 to schedule a training session or by email (caocommunications@stlouiscao.org) with "TRAINING REQUEST: Neighborhood Impact Statements" in the subject line.
