Mark Your Calendars: Saturday, Oct. 22 — River des Peres Trash Bash
The River des Peres Watershed Coalition is hosting its 14th Trash Bash on Saturday, October 22, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Click here for their flyer.
The annual clean-up party spreads volunteers along the River des Peres and its creeks and tributaries for this regional volunteer event.
Volunteers meet at one of three morning locations from 8:00 to 8:45 a.m. for announcements and clean-up assignments. Willmore Park (7200 Hampton Avenue) is the primary meeting location and the site of the post clean-up picnic. Heman Park in University City and the UMSL South Campus are secondary meeting locations.
Clean-ups take place between 9:00 a.m. and noon.
From noon to 2:00 p.m., all volunteers will gather at Willmore Park for an appreciation barbecue lunch, live music, and celebration. Prizes will be awarded for interesting trash finds.
There is no cost to participate, but online registration is requested to plan for volunteers and lunch. Click here to register.
Participants will need to fill out a liability form. Click here to download the liability form. Print it, fill it out, and bring it with you to save time signing-in on clean-up day.
The majority of the Ellendale neighborhood is flanked on the southeast by River des Peres. Register to volunteer. While you may not be assigned a cleanup location directly on River des Peres, helping clean-up the creeks and streams that feed into it is also important to the region.

The River des Peres Watershed Coalition is made up of a number of organizations and partners working toward clean healthy waters in the River des Peres and tributary streams. Organizations include: River des Peres Watershed Coalition, Great Rivers Greenway, Missouri Stream Team, City of St. Louis, participating municipalities, and Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District.
The mission of the River des Peres Watershed Coalition is to improve, protect, and maintain the River des Peres, its tributaries, and its watershed as a vital natural and cultural resource in the St. Louis metropolitan area.
