ENA Meeting Notes May 14, 2018

With only seven members in attendance, tonight’s meeting was informal and unofficial because by-laws require nine voting members for a quorum.

Community Reports

o Matt Sisul, for Alderman Scott Ogilvie (24th Ward)

City will be responsible for maintenance of all neighborhood trails. Forestry Division recently cleared overgrowth along Greenway Trail from the Shell Gas Station down to Canterbury; also addressed a fallen tree across Great Rivers Greenway trail just south of intersection with Esplanade

o Matt Sisul, for KaJauna Thomas (NSO, 24th Ward)

7042 Canterbury: rehab underway; Building Division cited owner for unsecured vacant building and for piles of construction & debris in yard; property has been cleaned-up but rehab expected to continue progressing slowly

MSD working on sewer repairs at Canterbury & Tennyson, in response to report from ENA March meeting

6914 Southwest recently had a fire. The property is now condemned. Not yet sure if repairs will be covered by insurance or if demolition will be required.

Suspected water line break under street at 2912 Ellendale Ave & 2913 Ellendale Ave. Street work anticipated very soon.

7073 Esplanade – fallen tree referred to City Forestry, in response to report from ENA March meeting

For Citizen’s Service Bureau reports of major items (such as nuisance properties, street repair needs, etc.), please copy or contact directly Matt Sisul so that ENA can assist with follow up of reported issues/concerns.

Ellendale Neighborhood Cleanups 2018 Neighborhood Remaining Cleanup Schedule (TRASH ONLY, NO VEGETATION REMOVAL):

9:00am-12pm on Saturday, May 26th

Cleanup area: Slay (Ellendale) Park

(meet at Slay Park parking lot area)

9:00am-12pm on Saturday, June 16th

Cleanup area: McCausland Avenue, between Canterbury Ave & Manhattan Ave

(meet at Slay Park parking lot area)

Volunteers are welcome to bring their own tools & supplies if desired.

· New Business:

o Volunteers needed for ENA pollinator garden

Please contact Matt directly to help with the watering of recently created garden at end of Ellendale Ave overlooking the retaining wall.

o Request for Block Captains

o ENA is once again participating in National night out Tuesday, August 7th.

Volunteers are needed. Please contact Jacqi Kamp if interested.

o Saturday, May 19th Boy Scout Troop 62 is having a tailgate sale at St. Joan Arc (Hampton and Pernod) from 8am to 2pm. There will be 50 Vendors. This is the boy scout troop that provided our neighborhood garden.
